Fairweater range

This was fishing at its best, in the shadow of the 10,000+ foot Fairweather range. Some of these peaks are over 18,000 feet high. In the foreground is the largest glacial field in North America. This was the king salmon season in 2009.

The fish are carefully being loaded into big totes. While loading the workers make sure that the heavy glaze stays in tact.
In the mean time Vi, who works for quality control takes the core temperature of the fish. She carefully drills a tiny hole in the fish in order to insert the thermometer.

She is happy to see that our fish average a very cold temperature. This is guarantee for a good and consistent quality of our fish.

10 days of fishing for kings in tough weather. It is quickly forgotten when delivering these gorgeous fish on a beautiful sunny day in Sitka. The fish were so big, Wolfie could barely hold one up. These fish are truly the best.

Julia in her Long lining gear after a big trip. In her hands is a black cod.

Beginning of the Black Cod Season

The Season started out with an amazing black cod trip!! The fish were up to 30 lbs. Even though the sperm whales around our boat got their share we loaded our boat.
